Decanters with style

More than just an implement that helps improve the experience of wine, decanters can also be highly sought-after collectibles. Here is a selection of decanters whose designs ensure they will not go unnoticed.

Riedel Margaux M Series

The Riedel,  company, the internationally recognized experts in wine glasses and decanters, has just released a new collection inspired by cognac and whisky bottles, the Margaux Decanter, from its M Series. With the aim of offering an elegant version that is easier to use than their other decanters, they created a line of 5 beautiful designs that are  ideal for use with aged red wines (such as Marques de Casa Concha Etiqueta Negra, which has an aging potential of 20 years), as well as young whites, orange wines, and even sparkling wines. The models—Macon, Margaux, Marne, Medoc, and Mosel—are hand crafted with crystal glass at the Riedel factory in Kufstein, Austria.

Metropole Malmo by LSA International

Inspired by the geometry of the Brutalist architectural style that arose in the United Kingdom in the 1950s, the Metropole Malmo decanter is the work of the European leader in contemporary glasswork, LSA International, and evokes the Hyllie Water Tower in Malmö, Sweden. Its striking disc-like shape highlights the quality of the mouth-blown glass and its hand-ground stopper and recalls the apothecary and perfume bottles of the past. Perfect for use with Marques de Casa Concha Cabernet Sauvignon, a wine that benefits greatly from decanting.

Fia Carafe by Design House Stockholm

This hand-blown glass carafe from Design House Stockholm is not only an excellent way to pour wine or water, but can also be used as a vase. Its designer, Nina Jobs, wanted to create a piece that would be indispensable and functional but that would also stand out on any table. The result is a wide-mouthed bottle and a crystal sphere (available in amber, black, pink, and clear crystal) that can be used as a stopper or placed at the bottom of the carafe to lend a touch of color to the table.

Riedel Amadeo Menta Limited Edition

While the Amadeo decanter was launched in 2006 to celebrate Riedel’s 250th anniversary, a new Limited Edition version has been brought back, now in three different colors: menta (green), rosa (pink), and grigio (clear). It’s lyre-inspired shape makes this a decanter that is both beautiful and functional. Handcrafted and designed to hold a full bottle of wine, it is perfect for both mature and young wines, such as the Marques de Casa Concha Pinot Noir 2020.

Balance Decanter

This decanter with an asymmetrical base and a gently oscillating silhouette offers a beautiful design that balances the wine on a wooden base. Handcrafted from lead-free crystal, it is a part of the Nude Balance collection from Nude Design. It stands out for its wide base, which helps oxygenation as well as serving the wine. Thanks to its dynamic design, the decanter can be placed at different angles. A creative and very practical piece when it comes to drinking wines with a considerable oak aging such as the Marques de Casa Concha Carmenere 2021.
