The Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varieties have demonstrated extraordinary quality, which is why wines of an outstanding level are expected to come from this region.
Marques de Casa Concha has vintaged its grapes in the Limarí Valley’s optimal conditions, both its Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varieties.
The 2020-2021 season was, broadly speaking, colder than average due to the La Niña phenomenon, which caused a delay in the ripening of the grapes, making the fruit express freshness and acidity in the wine.
Also, La Niña was responsible for delaying the vintage by two weeks compared to 2020, starting on February 15. However, thanks to conscientious work, it was possible to vintage on time.
“In the Limarí valley, the vintage started successfully and in perfect conditions. The first samples have been very promising. We believe that we will see an extraordinary quality”, said Concha y Toro’s winemaker and technical director Marcelo Papa.
For the Chardonnay, from the Quebrada Seca vineyard, Papa expects grapes with concentration, freshness, and minerality and with more mature flavors and aromas with slight tropical notes.
Marques de Casa Concha’s 2021 vintage is expected to be fresh and with mineral touches because of the area’s temperature drop, with some white and tropical fruit, good acidity levels, and very expressive. An excellent example of Chardonnay from Limarí.
The Pinot Noir vintage from the Quebrada Seca vineyard, was in excellent condition, and the harvest was done in perfect time. Therefore, Marqués de Casa Concha expects wines of a medium alcoholic level, high acidity, and perfect concentration. This will result in fresh, elegant, complex, and mineral wines. In other words, a true reflection of the Limarí terroir.
