MARQUES DE CASA CONCHA CHARDONNAY EARNS GOLD MEDAL AT THE DECANTER WORLD WINE AWARDS
The brand’s 2015 vintage Chardonnay was awarded a gold medal and a 95-point score at the latest version of britain’s prestigious dwwa competition.
Marques de Casa Concha had an outstanding showing at the latest Decanter World Wine Awards, with the brand’s 2015 vintage Chardonnay earning a Gold Medal and Regional Trophy as the best in its class (under £15), rearming British consumers’ preference for the style of this wine.
One of the globe’s most renowned and prestigious wine competitions, the Decanter World Wine Awards welcomed 219 judges from dierent countries this year, including 75 Masters of Wine and 13 Master Sommeliers. Together these experts were responsible for tasting 14,362 wines from 52 participating countries.
Marques de Casa Concha Chardonnay is made with grapes from the Quebrada Seca Vineyard, situated 29 kilometers from the Pacic Ocean on the northern bank of the Limarí River. The zone has a semiarid climate with a coastal inuence. The red clay-loam soil is poor in organic material and features round stones, chalky elements, and good permeability. “Viña Concha y Toro discovered the potential that exists in the Limarí Valley with the Chardonnay variety and has made a great eort to promote this origin,” comments MCC winemaker Marcelo Papa.
